Week one - so far, so good! For me that is... :-) I have hit the 15,000 daily steps every day with no real trouble, mainly by walking to the gym and walking down to the shops. My lady on the other hand has found herself walking at 10.30 pm on a couple of days, having spent the entire day locked to her computer and avoiding the lovely weather we have been having in the UK. If this starts to turn into a rant about the difficulties of achieving 15,000 steps, or why e should have done a rolling average, it is because she is typing right now.
I have to say though, day one of the challenge I was set up by my lovely lady, who tricked me into completing the Seven Sisters walk along the South coast. Let's just say, anyone who says that this walk is easy, is a LIAR and a SADIST. I think this video says it all...
Vengeance did come swiftly the following day as one of us, suffering from sunburn and very tired legs, really did not want to do her steps. But it did give her inspiration for the first five items to throw away - all of her out of date sunscreen. Due to the rules, because it was replaced with two bottle of 100 SPF (the good stuff apparently), this only counts as three items in the challenge. For myself I am starting by focusing on clothing, so the first four items were three jumpers and a very unwanted ex-work t-shirt.
Having been inspired by her sunscreen removal, my lady started to consider what else was lurking on top of our chest of drawers. It didn't take long to find some seriously old make-up, so a further eight items found there way into the bin. However, two items need to be bought again, so that takes her up to nine items in total. For myself, I got rid of a faded shirt, a jumper with holes in the sleeves, and some grey thermals (why do I even own these??).
